Ennis Paint is the leading provider of pavement marking materials in an estimated $1 billion-plus North American and European market. Ennis provides both government and commercial customers with the industry’s most comprehensive offering of highly durable and retro-reflective marking products used in the construction, maintenance and repair of highways, roads, airports, parking lots and other applications. The Company produces several million gallons of marking products and several million reflective pavement markers each year, that are delivered through a network of twelve manufacturing facilities located across the United States, Canada, United Kingdom and rest of the world. Ennis serves a stable, diverse, global customer base built through years of developing key relationships with state and local government agencies and private contractors.

Background to the Transaction

Founded in 1996 by Bryce Anderson and his son John Anderson, Ennis Paint had consolidated a leadership position within the U.S. pavement markings market through a buy-and-build strategy. In 2006, the Anderson family sought a partner to provide support and incremental capital for continued organic and acquisition growth and liquidity for estate planning purposes. The Andersons chose to work with Brazos as a result of the Firm’s local presence in Dallas (40 miles from Ennis), its relationship with management through the Firm’s local business connections, and its experience with family owned businesses. Brazos, along with local co-investors, the Anderson family and management, recapitalized Ennis in 2007. The family maintained a significant ownership position following the transaction in addition to senior executive and board level responsibilities.
